About Us

Accessible Care Transport, Inc. (ACT) is organized as a Domestic Nonprofit Corporation and was registered on January 22, 2025 with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, with operations officially started in August of 2025 after obtaining PUC authorization to operate in Pennsylvania (PA PUC#A-6427722).  It is governed by an elected Board of Directors that includes four executive positions and three members-at-large, with operations led by a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chief Operations Officer (COO).

Accessible Care Transport, Inc. (ACT) was born out of a recognized need for appropriate, caring, reliable and affordable transportation for disabled, elderly and ‘transportationally challenged’ individuals in the rural areas of South Central Pennsylvania (SCPA), including the counties of Adams, Franklin, Fulton, Cumberland, Dauphin, Lebanon, southern Lancaster, Perry and York.  ACT is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit entity offering non-emergency medical transportation to individuals who need help getting to and from their medical appointments and procedures.  South Central Pennsylvania has the fastest growing population of retired and elderly individuals in the state with a large veteran population in rural Adams and Franklin counties.  These individuals will need personalized transportation services as they become more incapacitated or incapable of driving; yet there are few options for reliable, affordable public transportation in the rural areas where these individuals live. Many of those who need transportation in these areas are on fixed incomes and cannot afford to have their own vehicles or pay for the types of medical transportation their conditions require.

South Central Pennsylvania is a rural area that lacks appropriate public transportation options for individuals with chronic medical conditions or physical and intellectual disabilities.  Many require specialized or individualized care when traveling from place to place which cannot or will not be provided by ride sharing services, which are also limited in these rural areas.  Often those with these special needs also have financial limitations that hinder the ability to pay excessive fees that may be associated with other types of private transportation.  They may feel like a burden to friends and family from whom they must ask for help to get to medical procedures, treatments or appointments on a regular basis.  Adult children must make difficult choices when juggling parents or family members with transportation needs and full-time employment; they may lose income or job opportunities due to taking off work to spend an entire day driving and waiting for their family member.
